Fawkes insisted on visiting a National Monument. We got up early and drove to the southernmost park in Arizona, via Gila Bend (the crossroads of Arizona) and Why, Arizona. I'd never been to either town and was curious about both. We didn't have time to stop in either, as the drive was 3+ hours each way, but we plan to see the the Painted Rock Petroglyphs in Gila Bend on the next trip down.
Organ Pipe was spectacular, especially Ajo Mountain Drive.
The plant to the right of the entry sign below is the park's namesake, the organ pipe cactus, found only in the Sonoran Desert.
